The first Fleetwood Mac band led by Peter Green, the guitar genius of the British blues scene. The Pious Bird Of Good Omen" (analog), released in 1969, is a compilation of singles not included on the album. The first Fleetwood Mac, led by one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Peter Green (1946-2020). Formed in 1967 after Greene left John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, the band included rhythm section members Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Greene, anticipating his own departure at some point, wanted the band to have a lasting identity after his involvement, so he named the band "Fleetwood Mac" after them. With the addition of two talented guitarists, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan, the band quickly gained attention for their sophisticated blues playing. They went on to produce some highly successful rock classics and instrumentals, but Greene left the band in May 1970. This is "The Pious Bird Of Good Omen" (Sacred Bird), a compilation album released in 1969, consisting mainly of single songs that were not included on the album in the UK. Along with "Black Magic Woman" (#37 in the UK), which later became a hit for Santana, the ballad "Need Your Love So Bad" (#31 in the UK), which was famously sung and performed by Peter Green, and "Albatross," which reached #1 in the UK, the album includes a song with Eddie Boyd. It is also an enjoyable introduction to the Blue Horizon period.
