Dream Theater's 21st official bootleg is the making of their masterpiece 5th album "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory". Dream Theater has been periodically releasing their "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" series of official bootlegs of live performances, demos, studio outtakes, and other treasured recordings. The 21st volume in the series is the making of "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory", the band's 5th album released in 1999, which is regarded as one of the band's best albums to date. The band's attempts at a mainstream rock radio hit with their fourth album, "Falling Into Infinity" in 1997, failed to produce the desired results, and they decided to put into action the grand plan they had already begun demoing at that time. They decided to make their first concept album in order to present their identity as a progressive rock band more clearly. The goal was to create a dramatic and thrilling rock opera about reincarnation as a development of the classic song "Metropolis Part 1" from the 1992 album "Images and Words".This is the definitive record that will make them one of a kind. This album is a rare glimpse into the process (songwriting sessions, rehearsals, outtakes, etc.) of building a meticulously spun story through a process of trial and error. The album was previously released on Ytsejam Records in limited production, and is now being reissued in a long-awaited reissue with the latest mastering and new artwork.
