The first analog release of the original soundtrack of Whitney Houston's Christmas movie "The Preacher's Wife" with Denzel Washington. This is the third Whitney Houston film released in 1996, following "The Bodyguard" (1992) and "Let Me Sigh" (1995), and while the first two films included works by other artists, all but one of the tracks on this album are by Whitney Houston. While the previous two albums included works by other artists, all but one of the songs on this album are by Whitney, making it a Whitney original album. In her own liner notes, she says, "This project was especially close to my heart. My start was with gospel music. This is what I feel most comfortable singing.The main producers were Whitney herself and Arista's president at the time, Clive Davis, as well as Babyface and David Foster for each song, and guests Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ralph Trevans, Monica, and many others. The album was a big hit in the U.S., reaching No. 3 on the U.S. album charts. The single "I Believe In You And Me" was also a big hit, reaching No. 4 in the U.S. It was released in 1996. This is the first time the album has been released in analog format. The booklet includes a recent essay by the album's producer, Marvin Warren.
