Concertgebouw Orchestra & GergievYoung up-and-coming pianist Abduraimov performs Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3! This is a dream collaboration between Gergiev and the Royal Concertgebouw. Gergiev is well known in the Netherlands as the Chief Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra from 1995 to 2008, and is now considered a strong candidate for the next Music Director of the Royal Concertgebouw. As a milestone, the 2017 Live is being released in a hurry. The orchestra performs Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with Gergiev's favorite, young Uzbekistan-born Bevzod Abduraimov, who was born in 1990, as soloist. This work is as difficult for the orchestra as it is for the piano part, and it always requires the appearance of a great conductor. In this respect, Gergiev and the Concertgebouw were absolutely ideal, and there was nothing to worry about. Gergiev and the Concertgebouw are ideal in this respect, with no worries whatsoever. Abduraimov's emotionally rich solo is beautifully supported. The tempo is calm throughout, and the 42 minutes are filled with tension. Abduraimov conquers this difficult piece with his ample sound and skillful technique.The fresh sensitivity shown in Tchaikovsky's Nocturne, which was also a favorite of Shula Cherkassky, is unintentionally compelling.
