Payu's exquisite performance reveals a transparent and lyrical beauty, a cool beauty that suggests even the most exquisite modeling and abstract beauty! The 2-CD album "Mozart & Flute in Paris" is a collection of nine enchanting works, all with Parisian origins and all accompanied by solo flute. The works on this album represent the various golden ages of the flute," says Payou. The oldest pieces here are two concerto pieces written by Mozart on his third and final visit to Paris in 1778. At the time, the flute was a fashionable instrument for the aristocracy and bourgeoisie. France has had a special relationship with the flute since the reign of Louis XIV and his court composer Jean-Baptiste Lully, and in the late 19th century, flutist Paul Taffanel (1844-1908) became a prominent figure, famous for his playing technique and refinement. Professor of flute at the Paris Conservatory, he was the founder of the French school of flute playing and published the textbook that would become the mainstream of flute performance instruction in the 20th century. Emmanuel Pahieu and François Leroux have researched the Paris Conservatory of that era and assembled a program.Those results are first recorded on CD1. (1/2) Warner Music Japan
