The "rare" source material from the 1972 French sessions, first released in the 2013 "A PASSION PLAY: AN EXTENDED PERFORMANCE" book set, is now available for the first time as a stand-alone analog release! Jethro Tull, one of the leading figures of British progressive music led by Ian Anderson, released his latest studio album "ROK FLOTE" in April 2023, and is still active as a progressive legend, touring all over Europe with it. In the summer of 1972, the band was at the height of its popularity with the release of "Thick As A Brick," which topped the album charts and received critical acclaim, and sold out numerous arena shows.In response to the excitement, they went into the famous Elleville Castle Studio near Paris, France, where David Bowie, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Cat Stevens, and many other great artists have recorded, and recorded three sides of a double album of songs. The recording session was not going well, and the band was unable to complete the recording. However, things did not go well, and the project to record in France came to a halt.... During the recording process, the band suffered from a series of equipment malfunctions, a tick infestation, and food poisoning. They decided to return to the UK without completing the project there, and decided to abandon a little over an hour of music they had recorded in France. What they completed by creating a new work from scratch, not the one they made there, was "A PASSION PLAY", which they released in 1973. (1/2)
