Jean Rondeau, a gifted young harpsichordist who, at only 23 years of age, has already mastered the techniques of the Baroque era, presents a new collection of harpsichord concertos by Bach and his father and son. Jean Rondeau is characterized by a freedom of expression that is not bound by classical piano technique, and his performances incorporate the essence of contemporary rock and pop music. He also excels at jazz improvisation and has performed at jazz festivals, etc. Since winning first prize in the harpsichord section of the 2012 Bruges International Competition for Old Music, he has been highly acclaimed in Europe and elsewhere. Both of the two albums he has released so far have been selected for the Record Arts Special Mention. The backing players on this album are a group of busy French virtuosos with whom he shares an affinity, and their performance is full of contemporary tempo, rhythm, and drive. The performances are not cluttered, but are superb, with a delicate touch that shines through. Warner Music Japan
