Volume 1 (CHSA 5164) includes ballet music such as "Appalachian Spring" and "Billy the Kid," and Volume 2 (CHSA 5171) includes "Symphony No. 2" and "Organ Symphony," both of which received "Editor's Choice" in Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine's Monthly Review The second volume (CHSA5171), which includes the "Organ Symphony" and the "Symphony No. 2", was named "Editor's Choice" and "Orchestral Choice" by Gramophone magazine and BBC Music Magazine, respectively, and quickly became a popular series. The third volume, a continuation of the symphony cycle, includes the "Symphony No. 1" arranged by the composer himself from the "Organ Symphony" (without the organ solo) and the "Dance Symphony" arranged from the ballet "Glögg".
