Nämme Järvi and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) have completed a five-volume "Wagner for Orchestra" and their previous work, "Saint-Saëns" (CHSA 5104), demonstrated a greater than expected affinity with French music. The eldest member of the fast-rising Järvi family next sent out Francesco Ezequiele Ermenegildo Suppe-Demelli, also known as Franz von Süd. The next work from the Järvi family, who have been performing the "Overture" and "March" by Franz von Suppe (1819-1895), is the "Overture" and "March"! Born in Split (now a city in Croatia) on the Adriatic Sea in the Dalmatian region, Suppe was a native of Vienna, the capital of Austria, where he was born. He was one of the greatest operetta composers of the 19th century who popularized "operetta" in earnest in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and was nicknamed "Offenbach of Vienna" for his style. The flamboyant, dramatic, and orchestral dynamic of Suppé's "Overture" and "March" is in fact an ideal program for the combination of Neeme Järvi and the RSNO. Järvi and Suppé.
