Description:
This is a collection of memorial works for him composed by many composers in memory of American composer Stephen Stucky (1949-2016), who died in 2016. Most of the pieces are one to three minutes in length. Finally, Stucky's own songs for mezzo-soprano, oboe, and piano are included. Stephen Stucky was for a long time the resident composer of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and is also known for his studies of Lutoslawski. He has received commissions from many orchestras and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for his work. On this disc, Salonen, Harbison, Matthews, Lindberg, and many others have contributed pieces.
