Description:

The Associates, a pop duo formed in Dundee, Scotland in 1979, are back with their 1982 breakthrough album "SULK", now in its 40th year of release in a deluxe edition of an analog LP + 3 CD set featuring the latest remastered album plus rare demos, outtakes and unreleased live material! Formed in Dundee, Scotland in 1979, The Associates, a duo consisting of Billy Mackenzie and Alan Rankin, have been influenced by a diverse range of music and styles, from art rock, disco and glam rock to minimalism and cabaret music. The duo has developed a unique pop style that draws on influences from a wide variety of music and styles, including art rock, disco, glam rock, minimalism, cabaret music, and more. Their music was post-punk, new wave, and synth-pop in style, and attracted many music fans in the 1980s. Their second studio album, "SULK," was released in 1982. This album, which could be called the culmination of their sound, combining the new romantic synth-pop sound with dark and surreal cabaret elements, reached the top 10 of the UK album charts and was named "Album of the Year" by Melody Maker magazine. In fact, Billy McKenzie, vocalist of THE ASSOCIATES, who chose to leave this world in 1997, said of the album before his death: "'SULK' is a true liberation. SULK" was a true liberation. The essence of who I am as I am is reflected here. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of "SULK," a blue vinyl analog LP featuring the latest remastered recordings of the original album, the original album, and rare recordings of outtakes, monitor mixes, and the BBC's The deluxe edition includes the original album on blue vinyl with the latest remastered recordings from the original album, the original album, outtakes, monitor mixes, rare recordings such as the BBC's John Peel session, and a 3-CD set containing previously unreleased live recordings from the Netherlands in 1981. The previously unreleased live recordings on the CDs were recorded at Gigant Apeldoom in the Netherlands on January 10, 1981. Also included in the LP-sized book pack is a booklet with liner notes by music journalist Simon Reynolds, featuring rare and previously unpublished photos and interviews with band members Alan Rankin and others. It is a collector's item containing valuable records of the short-lived band.
