The fourth Barenboim Elgar Cycle with Decca, featuring Elina Galancha, one of the leading mezzo-sopranos of our time, couples "Pictures of the Sea," Barenboim's first re-recording in 40 years, with "Falstaff," a symphonic study. The "Pictures at Sea" is a series of songs for mezzo-soprano (or alto) and orchestra, consisting of five pieces: "Song of the Sea Sleep," "At the Harbor (Capri)," "Sabbath Morning at Sea," "Where the Coral Reef Is," and "The Swimmer. Elgar, who had achieved great success with the premiere of "Enigma Variations" in June 1899, completed "Sea Pictures" in the summer of that year. Universal Music/IMS
