Description:

Noiberg, an up-and-coming flutist from Israel, and Dominguez, a veteran of the Andalusian music scene in southern Spain, and Noiberg, an up-and-coming flutist from Israel, have been playing together for many years, and their roots and taste for Latin and Brazilian music and choro have come to fruition. This is a duo album by Chano Dominguez, a veteran pianist born in Cadiz, Southern Spain, and Hadar Noiberg, an up-and-coming female flutist from Israel. Dominguez is one of the most influential pianists born in Spain. With roots in Andalusia, she has established a world that combines flamenco and jazz as improvisational music. His music is groundbreaking, original, and highly acclaimed/popular. Noiberg, on the other hand, has been based in New York since he was 21 years old. In addition to his own projects, Noiberg has performed with Anat Cohen, Omer Avital, and Dave Valentine, as well as the rapidly rising Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa, among many others. He is influenced by Latin and Brazilian music, especially choro, as well as his own roots in the Middle East. In 2017, they met at "jazzahead" in Bremen. Noiberg, who had already experienced a showcase with his own band at jazzahead, was fascinated by Chano Dominguez's performance as an audience member and approached Noiberg to perform with him. The two continued to communicate with each other, sharing not only their music but also their influences and ways of thinking. This led to the creation of this work. The 11 songs on this album are a fusion of the two musicians' musical roots and interests, presented in an ideal way, and performed in a time-honored manner. The opening number, written nearly 40 years ago for Dominguez's former rock group, Cai, has been revived in a joyful, lively arrangement and original performance, and the Sevillian rumba-inspired Dominguez number, also written by Dominguez, is also included. M3 is also reincarnated with a fusion of Shoro's feel.On the other hand, M4, composed by Noiberg while imagining Dominguez playing with tango-like elements, is a number with a mix of arabic phrases, and is a performance overflowing with the musical worldview of both artists. On the other hand, M5, which Dominguez dedicated to his grandson, is a unique performance that expresses his love for Joe Zabinulu in the chord progression and rhythm, and M7, a masterpiece by Brazilian great Egberto Gismonti, shows the respect the two artists have for Gismonti. The climax is M10, a seven-minute-long intimate performance in which both artists show exceptional improvisational theater, and their roots are fully woven into the melancholy melodies, making for a moving performance. Southern Spain and Israel. Although geographically located far apart at first glance, these two musicians have pursued their musical roots in the lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, where diverse cultures have intermingled and interacted with each other, and their creativity overflows in this work.
