Description:
Denny Zaitlin performs Miles Davis' songs (& related songs), a lifelong innovator, in a variety of styles at Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland, California, with a great staff, audience and piano. This solo work is a remarkable follow-up to the Live Shorter Collection! This is a CD of a solo performance concert by veteran pianist Denny Zaitlin, performing music by Miles Davis and his associates. The concert venue is the Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland, California, which is reputed to be one of the finest piano providers on the west coast of the U.S. The showroom has hosted concerts since 2005, and Zaitlin has performed there regularly. The 2015 concert featuring the music of Wayne Shorter is titled "EarlyWayne" (SSC 1456), and this concert is the follow-up to those by Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk. This concert is the follow-up to the Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk concerts. Zaitlin himself praised the venue, saying, "The audience, the staff, and the acoustics were all wonderful, and you could choose your favorite instrument from a variety of pianos. The opening track "Solar", M4 "Stablemates", in which the left hand bass line and the right hand melody and harmony are exquisitely conversing, "Dear Old Stockholm" on a medium swing rhythm, "Circle" with beautiful harmony and delicate melody typical of Zaitlin, who is in the vein of Evans, and "Lament" on M11, a tribute to Miles & Gil Evans, are just a few of the songs. The album also includes "Circle," with its beautiful harmonies and delicate melody, and "Lament," a tribute to Miles & Gil Evans (M11). On the other hand, Zaitlin's playing on M5 "Tomas" by Miles and Marcus Miller and on late Miles-related songs such as Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" were also very different from the original, as was the lively M12, which was derived from the chord changes in "I Got Rhythm", The band also shows avant-garde playing, including the use of prepared pianos. This is a record of a creative concert in which Zaitlin, who has shown a wide range of piano expression from jazz expression that includes blues, to Evansian and avant-garde, performed the music that Miles Davis, an innovator and pioneer throughout his career, has continued to develop. Along with Shorter's work, you can enjoy Zaitlin's wonderful solo world.
