MUNA, a girl trio band formed in 2013 by Katie, Josette, and Naomi, who were classmates at the University of Southern California, debuted with a stylish sound and sharp message. The band's sound, which they describe as "dark pop," is melodic synth-pop with a strong 80s flavor. All members identify as sexual minorities, and their songs are full of sharp messages that give courage to people from all walks of life and open up the sense of stagnation of the times.The songs "I Know A Place" is a cheerleader for minorities, "Loudspeaker" is an inspirational song that encourages people to "speak up! and "Winterbreak," an honest song about the heartbreak of a relationship that didn't work out the way one wanted it to. The powerful message over the stylish sound has a great impact. This is an evolving girl band from the West Coast!
