Using instruments made for Segovia! This excellent recording clearly captures the intricate sound of the famous guitar instrument played by Italian guitarist Carlotta Daria. You can enjoy the diverse guitar sounds of Enrico Melozzi's "Re-Bars from Fragments by J.P. Rameau," newly composed for her, and various other pieces. Only two originals of the "Special Segovia Model" made by Hermann Hauser I, a Munich instrument maker whom Segovia trusted, are known to exist, and one of them is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, so the instrument used on this CD is the only one available for performance. Hauser was inspired by Spanish guitar makers such as Antonio de Torres and Manuel Ramirez, and worked closely with Segovia. The binding is in digipack format, and the booklet (12 pages in German & English) is written by musicologist Daniel Wheeldon, with commentary on the instruments and a talk by Segovia.
