The album's title originates from Hungarian composer György Kurtág's miniature piece, "Flowers We Are...". Kurtág's music possesses intense focus and profound expression within short phrases, lending a unique tension and cohesion to the entire album. Kuzmenko spent approximately two years meticulously selecting pieces, transcending eras and styles while paying attention to often-overlooked masterpieces. The track order was revised multiple times to ensure each piece flows naturally into the next. The result is not merely a collection of short pieces, but a program shaped like a unique bouquet. This album is dedicated to György Kurtág, who will celebrate his 100th birthday in 2026, and to his late wife, Márta Kurtág, who steadfastly supported his creative work.This recording showcases Kuzmenko's profound understanding and reverence, cultivated through direct instruction from the Kurthag couple and a deep grasp of their condensed musical language. Kuzmenko is an internationally acclaimed pianist renowned for his delicate yet highly sophisticated technique.
