The latest and final chapter of Narls Barclay—the brainchild of genius DJ Danger Mouse and eccentric rapper/soul singer CeeLo Green—*ATLANTA* is here! The vinyl LP is also being released simultaneously! Narls Barclay, the super-project that sent the music scene into a frenzy in 2006 with the single “Crazy” and the album *ST.ELSEWHERE*. The genius DJ who shocked the music scene with *The Grey Album*—a mix of a cappella tracks from Jay-Z’s *The Black Album* and instrumental tracks from The Beatles’ *The White Album* (released but later recalled)—and who burst onto the mainstream scene by producing Gorillaz’s *Demon Days*, Danger Mouse, and CeeLo Green—a member of Goodie Mob, one of the most unique groups in the hip-hop world, who also enjoys a successful solo career and is a multi-talented genius capable of delivering not only rapid-fire raps but also vocals brimming with old-school soul. With their unconventional musicality, this project incorporates everything from rock, soul, and funk to hip-hop electronica, and more. Each track has been met with rave reviews from discerning music fans both within and outside the industry, sparking a massive craze that even swept up trend-conscious teens. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Narls Barclay’s debut album, and to everyone’s surprise, he has returned to the scene with a brand-new album! He recently released “Pictures,” his first new song in 18 years, which highlights the undeniable chemistry created by CeeLo’s gospel-influenced, soaring vocals and Danger Mouse’s rich, intricately layered production. “Pictures” is a song that evokes the MARTA trains beloved by Atlanta residents. It’s a vivid memory from CeeLo and Danger Mouse’s teenage years in the ’90s. CeeLo revealed the following about the song: “This song was born from my childhood experiences. When I was in middle school, there was a principal who would tell me to ‘go home’ the moment I arrived at school every Friday. Without fail, every single time. Back then, as an eighth grader, I’d leave school and ride the train alone from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The hook of this song literally sings about what it’s like to be on the train. Being on the move feels like watching a movie pass by… when you’re looking out the window of a MARTA train.” (1/2)
