The fourth installment of "The Art of the Virtuoso," a collection of unique and varied solo concertos from the 18th century, Katerva Musica is an ancient music ensemble active in Westphalia, located in the western part of the Ruhr region of Germany. The group was founded in 1998 by Elke Fabry and Wolfgang Fabry. The ensemble is known for its lively performances on original instruments, not only reviving historical music but also incorporating a modern approach. This is the fourth in the series of recordings "The Art of the Virtuoso" commemorating the 25th anniversary of Catelva Musica. This recording features masterpieces of solo concertos by Pergolesi, Walther, Vivaldi, J.C. Bach, and Telemann, all with outstanding artistry. Vivaldi's concerto, in which the bright and rich sound of the viola d'amore can be enjoyed, is a delicate and beautiful work with a very sweet interplay between orchestra and soloist, while J.C. Bach's bassoon concerto is a rococo masterpiece with a courtly elegance. It is a landmark piece that influenced the young Mozart. And Telemann's Korogi Symphony is lively and inventive music, sprinkled with a sense of humor and evocative of birdsong and the chirping of crickets. King International
