Ghedini, the "solitary composer" praised by Berio. The little-known world of chamber music! Giorgio Federico Ghedini, an Italian composer of the 20th century, established his own unique style while maintaining a certain distance from the musical trends of his time. Luciano Berio, who was Gedini’s student, described him as a “great and solitary musician” and stated that his true value would be reevaluated over time. In recent years, thanks to an increase in recordings, his works have gradually become more widely known. This album features works for violin, cello, and piano composed between 1915 and 1946. Centered around *7 Ricercari*, which reinterprets the contrapuntal techniques of Italian early music, the album features works such as *Canon*, *Elegy*, and *2 Interludes*, showcasing the broad spectrum of Gedini’s compositional style. The performances are by Trio Vazari, formed in 2024 by violinist Sara Pastine, cellist Natania Hoffman, and pianist Giulia Contaldo. The group evolved from the Pastine-Contardo Duo, formed in 2016 and a recipient of awards at chamber music competitions both in Italy and abroad, and has performed at music festivals throughout Italy and internationally. All three members were appointed professors at Italian conservatories in 2024, and during the 2024–2026 season, they are actively performing at various music festivals and concerts celebrating the release of their CD.
