The third collection of Rachmaninoff's works by Lan Shui & Singapore Symphony Orchestra. The third release features Symphony No. 1 in D minor, op. 13, and Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor, op. 1, with Evgeny Sudobin as soloist. Symphony No. 1 in D minor was premiered in 1897, but was not performed during Rachmaninoff's lifetime due to its poor success, and was revived in 1945. The work was revived in 1945. Lan Shui gives a powerful performance of this work, which exudes the energy of the young Rachmaninoff. The coupling is Rachmaninoff's memorable Op. 1, Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor by Evgeny Sudobin, born in St. Petersburg in 1980.Sudobin's Rachmaninoff is well known, and his album of Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, op. 43 (BISSA 1988), also showed a strong and romantic Russian pianism. Sudobin is a master of incredible virtuosity, and this cadenza in particular never ceases to amaze. Such an emotionally rich performance shows that at the age of 30, he has reached the level of a maestro. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra led by Lan Shui is also wonderful, and the crisp trumpet playing in the last movement is so enthusiastic that it can be called a blast! King International
