The latest work by Tamsin Waley-Cohen, born in London in 1986, acclaimed by maestro Ruggiero Ricci as "the most talented young violinist I have ever met" and selected for the ECHO Rising Stars for the 2016-2017 season.Nassen, "Reflection," the axis of the album, is a lyrical salon piece consisting of "musical reflections" such as melodic antiphons, six-tone scales and their complements, and three-part mutual reflections, composed in Suffolk in August-September 2016 and premiered in October of the same year at Birmingham's Town Hall by the two dedicatees The piece was performed by the two dedicatees at the Town Hall in Birmingham in October of the same year.All of the other pieces have been carefully chosen to echo Nassen's work, including Watkins' own "Violin Sonata," which Waley-Cohen and Watkins premiered in November 2020 from an audience-free Wigmore Hall, Prokofiev's Sonata No. 1, which they have performed often, and the wacky and humorous Stravinsky "Duo Concertante, The two performers often perform Prokofiev's Sonata No. 1, and Stravinsky's "Duo Concertant," which is full of wackiness and humor.
