His enigmatic recordings have been hailed by critics as the work of one of the most innovative guitarists of our time. This release features stimulating, hard-psychedelic tracks that were originally included only on CD as part of the 1999 compilation *SkyPilot*, released in Australia by Camera Obscura Records, and had since become rare out-of-print material. Fearing that Jesus Ascedo’s intense and stimulating musical legacy would fade into obscurity with each passing year since his death, Lion Productions, together with Rich Hopkins and Sun Jinto Records, spared no effort to keep this blazing flame burning. All the tracks included in this release originated from a bizarre recording session for an album Ascedo produced under the name BlackSunLegion. Ascedo, who was battling schizophrenia and whose condition was deteriorating, destroyed the album he had created; fortunately, Hopkins had preserved the master tapes, leading to this release. This is a precious collection of recordings that allows us to once again commemorate and celebrate Asced’s genius through some of the brilliant songs he left behind—a body of work that, while not extensive, is truly remarkable.
