Description:

New 4-CD set of recordings from a series of solo concerts in Italy in October 1996. Solo shows in Modena, Ferrara, Turin, and Genoa, long improvisational performances captivate audiences. These were the last concerts he performed without a break in any of the sets. Jazz is manifest here, of course, but also classical music (from modern Ives to old Bach) shows that it is deeply close to me." Keith said. These concerts were his first solo shows after his 1995 concert at La Scala in Milan, where he also released a live recording as "La Scala," and his first solo concerts at various improvised venues since the 1970s, including "Bremen-Lausanne," "Sun Bear Concerts," and many more. It was also the end of the first phase of Keith's solo concert career, which began in the 70's with "Bremen-Lausanne", "Sun Bear Concerts" and other improvised concerts in various venues... After these concerts, Keith did not perform publicly for two years. In 1997, he recorded the famous album "The Melody at Night, with You" at home, meditating on the pure melody, and at the end of 1998, he returned to the stage with a standard trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette. He returned to the stage in late 1998 with a standard trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette, and gradually began to perform solo concerts, but the format of solo concerts, as in the case of 2002's "Radiance," has changed, and is now a series of improvisational compositions. This is the final act of the first chapter of Keith's solo career. Keith once said about his solo performance, "When I play pure improvisation, I don't need intelligence or emotion. I just want the river to flow." He said. Keith himself brought in a DAT recorder to record this piece, allowing both performer and listener to enter the river. I hope everyone has the same special experience that I had when I rediscovered this music," said Keith. Keith's message to the audience.
