A talented Dutch viol consort. John Jenkins (1592-1978) was a composer active in 17th-century England, straddling the eras of Byrd and Purcell. The third volume of the series, which unravels the art of Jenkins, who was also a renowned virtuoso of the Lilla viol, is a collection of 17 fantasies in the keys of G (G), D (D), and C (C). The program traces the transition and development of Jenkins' viol music. Spirit of Gumbo is a Dutch viol consort founded by Flake Borstrup and Jezina Riedmaier. All instruments used by the ensemble are made by Jezina Riedmaier, and their performances have been highly acclaimed in the European classical music world, winning many music awards, including the Diapason Prize of France.
