EMI's earliest stereo recordings have been beautifully remastered and brought back to life! The first stereo version of the Torturier recordings, and the first 24-bit / 96kHz high-resolution remastering of the recordings for enthusiasts. EMI began recording in stereo in 1954, and these recordings are from that very first period. Furthermore, all of the recordings are in some way or another first-ever recordings, making them coveted by enthusiasts. Menges and Torturier's Saint-Saens No. 1 is the first stereo version. It is a performance that has been familiar to many as a monaural recording, but to hear it in stereo is a surprise. The balance between solo and orchestra and the textures are more clearly perceptible and impressive. The Brahms concerto was previously available only in monaural, but this disc features stereo versions of the second and third movements, which is of course a first (the first movement is in monaural). Endre Wolff was a Hungarian violinist who studied under Hubaye and was a teacher at the Manchester Conservatory of Music in England from 1954.You can hear good, traditional Brahms. Norman Del Mar's "Till" is considered to be the first EMI stereo recording of the piece as a whole. This is an interesting recording that for some reason has never been released to the public.
