Description:

The long-awaited physical release of the live album of the band led by Terrace Martin, Grey Area, recorded live in 2020! The album features one of the best live performances in jazz today, including a super-hot jazz cover of Kendrick Lamar's classic "For Free?" and a superb 20+ minute jam session with guest appearance by Kamasi Washington! Terrace Martin, who has been promoting contemporary jazz through numerous projects such as R+R=Now with Robert Glasper and Dinner Party with Glasper, Kamasi Washington, and Ninth Wonder, has formed his own band, "Grey Area".As an unveiling of the band, "Live at the JammJam," a live album featuring a live performance at the Jammcard-sponsored event "JammJam" in 2020, has finally been released on CD and vinyl! The album features Terrace Martin as the leader, Joshua Crumbley, the most important young bassist who has released his own albums as a leader and has been a valuable member of Kendrick Scott and Kamasi Washington's works, and Lewis Cole and Genevieve Artadi as members of the pop unit "Nowhere", a band of keyboardists. The band is a group of key figures in the jazz world, including keyboardist Paul Cornish, who is also a member of the Nowhere band, and Ronald Bruner JR, who is the brother of Thundercat and has played drum for Prince and Kamasi. What was the content of the show? After a two-minute introduction, the band exploded into "For Free?As the song title suggests, it is a jazz cover of the classic "For Free?" from Kendrick Lamar's masterpiece "To Pimp a Butter?y," produced by Terrace Martin himself. The sweet ballad "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" was interspersed with solo keyboard playing, and Terrace ally Kamasi Washington joined the band as a guest on "Juno" and "Stop Trippin'," both of which lasted nearly 20 minutes! The two songs, "Juno" and "Stop Trippin'," both featured guest Kamasi Washington, and were heated jam sessions that lasted for nearly 20 minutes. This is truly a superb live album that packs 120% of the charm of a live jazz performance!
