Speaker Sargent, a three-piece Japanese instrumental jazz band pursuing a cool, urban jazz groove for adults, covers a classic fusion tune! The band's cool, urban taste is further emphasized by the groove. The band's "Super Strut" by Deodato, which has been covered by many artists, and "Westchester Lady" from Bob James' classic album "Three" are turned into thick jazz funk with tight drum play. Everybody Loves Sunshine" by Lamp (Roy Ayers), a staple of the mellow groove, is a good cover with even more mellowness! The selection includes Herbie Hancock's "Tell Me A Bedtime Story," Boz Scaggs' "Jojo," Steely Dan's "Do It Again," and other fusion favorites, as well as James Mason's rare groove classic "Sweet Power.
