It is the latest feature-length work by Gabriel Abrantes, a sculptor and sculptor and visual artist, whose latest feature film follows the release in Japan of Diamantino: An Encounter with the Unknown, the whimsical fantasy that won the Grand Prix at the 71st Cannes International Film Festival’s International Critics’ Week. Jack Heaven (appearing in this film as Brigitte Landy-Pain, before her name change), who has garnered attention for her role in A24’s acclaimed film I Want to Be on TV, plays Riley, who tries to save Ed as he becomes entangled in a lineage of terror. while Carlotto Cotta plays a dual role as Ed and his twin brother Manuel, who is reunited with his biological family. Spanning themes such as religion, politics, and gender, this film—the director’s first foray into horror—won the Jury Prize in 2021 at the France Géraldme International Fantastic Film Festival, which has produced numerous horror filmmakers including Andy Muschietti in 2013, David Robert Mitchell in 2015, and in 2021 by Brandon Cronenberg—a festival that has launched the careers of numerous horror filmmakers.
