Concept album for the upcoming Japanese release of the film "TAR. The album includes Mahler's Symphony No. 5 with Cate Blanchett on the baton. The concept album capturing the process of music production, which is the core of the film, was released by Deutsche Grammophon. Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress, "TAR," written and directed by filmmaker Todd Field and starring actress Cate Blanchett, tells the story of composer and conductor Lydia Tarr. The film's extensive track listing ranges from Elgar's Cello Concerto and Mahler's Symphony No. 5 to a new work by Icelandic composer Hidur Gudnadottir.The combination of actual recording sessions, rehearsals, music heard by the film's characters, and the finished version of the music Lydia is working on, complements the film by allowing listeners to experience what director Field calls "the complexity of the work involved in classical music production." The album is a collection of music by Kate Blanco and Lydia. The album also includes a recording of Cate Blanchett conducting a rehearsal of Mahler's Symphony No. 5 as Lydia Tarr, as well as a recording of her performing a prelude from Bach's "Mean Clavier" cycle.
