Yukari (J-Jazz)

Description:

Featuring Thomas Morgan, one of today’s premier bassists! An unconventional trio album by YUKARI, a Japanese jazz flutist based in Switzerland, featuring bass and percussion. A dialogue of serene original compositions and collective improvisation inspired by the god of the west wind (Zephyr). Import edition with Japanese liner notes! A new album by "YUKARI," a jazz flutist originally from Shizuoka Prefecture who is now based in Switzerland and performs globally after studying at the Manhattan School of Music. The album features the trio "Synchronic," comprising world-renowned bassist Thomas Morgan—a leading figure in the contemporary jazz scene—and percussionist Satoshi Takeishi, who has established his own unique style in New York. Thomas Morgan also appeared on YUKARI’s 2010 debut album *Dreams*, making this recording the result of a deep and trusting relationship. Inspired by Zephyr, the god of the west wind in Greek mythology, this album was created amidst the sense of confinement during lockdown. It consists of five original compositions by YUKARI herself and five pieces of collective improvisation by the trio. Centered on themes of “invisible forces” such as breath, wind, and memory, this is a transparent, contemporary jazz album where intentional composition and spontaneous improvisation intersect. ・Includes Japanese obi strip ・Includes Japanese liner notes <Track List> 1.
