At this time when postwar Japanese composers are celebrating the 100th anniversary of their birth, the "Piano Sonatas of Japan" project was launched as an attempt to shed new light on the history of Japanese composition. This project by producer Genta Takaku and pianist Nanako Sugiura is a grand attempt to survey the aesthetics of Japanese composition through piano sonatas, from the rediscovery of past masterpieces to the commissioning of works by current composers.Through year-end recitals and Pittina public recordings, Sugiura embodies the intersection of tradition and innovation in sound.
