Haydn (1732-1809)

Description:

Adam Fischer Returns to Haydn. Re-recordings of the late symphonies begin! Adam Fischer is the only conductor who has recorded all the numbered symphonies by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. On the 25th anniversary of his appointment as Chief Conductor of the Danish Chamber Orchestra, Adam Fischer presents a series of re-recordings of Haydn's late symphonies. The first collection includes three pieces from the London Symphony, including the popular "Astonishment. The music is exciting and fascinating throughout, with great differences from the old recordings, and the expectations for the future are very high. Adam Fischer organized the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra to perform Haydn's complete symphonies and recorded them for the Nimbus label at the Esterházy Palace, which is associated with Haydn, from 1987 to 2001. The recordings are impressive for their clear sound with an orchestra of about 50 members, contrasting interpretations of slow and fast passages, and a mellow sound that makes the most of the acoustics of the recording venue. The re-recordings with the Danish Chamber Orchestra are even sharper and faster-paced than those recordings, and the dynamic transitions and accents are more intense. The influence of ancient music can be heard in the flowing and speedy phrasing, but the orchestra's elastic and flexible playing suggests that this style has become their standard. They are also ingenious in their use of bowing, deliberately using techniques such as ricochet (jumping bows) to achieve more lively effects than usual. The most noticeable difference between the old and the new is in the Minuet movement, where the speed and smoothness of the steps in the new version are on another level compared to the well-dressed old version. The final movement of No. 93 is so fast that one wants to exclaim, "This is Presto! The second movement of No. 94 is truly "astonishing" with its strong blow at the beginning of the second movement, which turns from a re-silence to a complete turnaround from a silence. As Adam Fischer says in the commentary of the original recording, "I hope the recording will captivate the audience as much as the concert.Comparison of playing time (old disc/new disc in this order) No.93:24'12/20'35, No.94:23:43/21'12, No.95:21:16/18:32 *Japanese commentary by Atsushi Suzuki is included in the domestic version.
