Description:

On August 31, 1873, Bruckner visited Wagner's home in Bayreuth with the scores of this Symphony No. 3 and his older Second Symphony. Wagner was not interested in the Second Symphony, but was so impressed with the Third that he called Bruckner back after he had sent him home, and the two had a beer and a chat with Mrs. Cosima, and the next morning, Bruckner forgot which symphony Wagner had accepted and asked Wagner again. The next morning, Bruckner forgot which symphony Wagner had accepted and asked Wagner again. However, it is speculated that Wagner liked it because the general score of No. 3, the first draft of this symphony, contained many quotations from Wagner's works. Later, Bruckner gradually removed the quotations, and in the third draft (1888/1889) used in this album, the quotations have almost disappeared. This shows Bruckner's pride in his ability to write an acceptable symphony without Wagner's help.Hansjörg Albrecht found in this work "Bruckner, a composer whose origins were as an organist," and depicts his symphonic world with the unique sound of the organ. The "Symphonic Prelude" recorded at the beginning of the program was discovered immediately after World War II among the belongings of Bruckner's pupil Rudolf Krzyzanowski, and was initially thought to have been written by Gustav Mahler, but is now considered to be by Bruckner. A new work for this project, which attracts attention every time, is "PINUS" by Johanna Doderer, born in Bregenz. Originally a work for orchestra, it has now been revised into an organ version with the help of Albrecht. It is an interesting work with skillful collage and embedded Bruckner melodies. Naxos Japan
