Description:

Jean-François Madouff, a master of natural brass, has long been highly acclaimed in Japan for his international activities, including numerous guest appearances at the Bach Collegium Japan. He is a master of natural brass, a technique that was invented to solve the technical difficulties of natural brass during the 20th century's revival of ancient brass instruments, and he is able to play the holeless natural trumpet, which has no finger holes for correction and can only be played with authentic pre-18th century techniques. The Ensemble Eolus, which he presides over himself, has taken time out of his busy schedule to release an album of Telemann's unique compositions for ensemble, which were the most popular in Germany at the same time as Bach and Handel. The album reveals the true face of Telemann's outdoor brass band music, which was written in the Baroque period (sometimes played outdoors without basso continuo) to suit the German aristocracy's love of hunting and military music, using not only trumpets but also natural horns and hunting horns. The open and airy sound of natural instruments does not lead to attractive music simply by blowing wildly. ...... How the superb acoustic world of Telemann, a master who delighted monarchs, sounded "as it was" in those days, is a new recording that is a must-hear not only for listeners of ancient music but also for fans of brass bands. The combination of the music selection and the strange sound of Telemann's superb acoustic world, which delighted the monarchs, makes this new recording a must-listen for brass band fans as well as for listeners of classical music.
