The 12th volume of the new series (4th season) of the anime "Gintama", "Farewell Shinpengumi Arc"! --The Shin-Sen-Gumi has been dismantled, and the police force is now under the control of the Shogun. The Shin-Sen-Gumi was dismantled and the police function was completely transferred to the Minamigumi. Matsudaira was removed from office, and Iizaburo Sasaki became the new Commissioner General of the National Police Agency. Kondo and Matsudaira were beheaded for their failure to prevent the assassination of Shogun Shigemochi.The Shin-sen-gumi fiercely opposed the decision. However, Hijikata did not agree with the move and quietly accepted the dismantling of the Shin-sengumi. This was in order to carry on Kondo's will and protect the lives of the samurai. Despite Hijikata's and Kondo's wishes, the world's trend toward a dark age continues unabated. Meanwhile, a new movement emerges among the expelled foreigners, led by Katsura. Kondo's thoughts and feelings are entrusted to Gintoki, who also decides to make up his mind. Kondo, Hijikata, Okita, and the Shin-Sen-Gumi.What kind of Samurai were they aiming to be?
