Nagoya-based singer-songwriter Mai Hirauchi presents her first full-length album, *Sakasama no Mado* (Upside-Down Window), which bridges memories and the present. This is the first full-length album by Nagoya-based singer-songwriter Mai Hirauchi. Produced as a continuation of the story begun with her lead single “Dengurigaeshi”—which took “changing one’s perspective” as its theme—the album features 11 tracks born from a reexamination of her own memories, emotions, and the primal landscapes of her childhood. The pure curiosity, fears, longings, setbacks, encounters, and partings she felt as a child. This work carefully portrays emotions that might otherwise be overlooked in daily life, viewed from a perspective of self-observation. The title *Sakasama no Mado* embodies the anticipation of a fresh breeze that blows through when one shifts their perspective. Centered on indie rock and incorporating electric guitar sounds and violin arrangements, this album features accessible melodies that anyone can hum along to and candid lyrics. It is an album that looks back not to nostalgically reminisce about the past, but “to affirm who I am now.” In a lyrical world where “memory” and “the present” intersect, this album features numerous childhood memories and past events. However, these are not merely nostalgic anecdotes; they are portrayed as “the things that have shaped who I am today.” As you listen to each track, a narrative emerges that reads like a record of one person’s growth.
