Description:
His first album of 2018 explores his own youth and the discovery of his own distinctive sound. Mahjong Room is the first album released by Cameron Lew under the artist name Ginger Root. Called Aggressive Elevator Soul, it explores his youth and the discovery of his own signature sound. Self-produced and self-performed, "Mahjong Room" made Ginger Root popular outside of his hometown of Huntington Beach. At the time of the album's recording and release, Lew was still attending film school. Hence, his attention was also focused on the music videos for the singles "Two Step," "Call it Home," "Jeanie," "Mahjong Room," and "Ohio. These humorous videos, which are now Ginger Root's signature, were directed and produced by Lew himself.Ginger Root, which also attracted attention from other indie acts, spent much of fall 2018 touring with Khrunagbin, Duran Jones & The Indications, The Marias, and Omar Apollo.
