Music Journalist John Savage Releases Compilation Album of Selected Electronics from 1983 to 1985! The latest in a series of compilations by British author/music journalist John Savage and ACE! Once again, we present a spectacular insight into popular culture from 1983 to 1985. Emerging from the ashes of post-punk, this early period was full of experimental singles such as Siouxsie's "Swimming Horses," Shriekback's "Lined Up," Soft Cell's "Heat," Echo & The Bunnymen's "Gods Will Be Gods" by Echo & The Bunnymen, and "Girl Afraid" by The Smiths. The compilation begins in the mainstream and ends in the underground. It was the classic 80s, before the full extent of New Light's political project was revealed, but all the signs were there. The tribes were at war and dressed in pop's past.It was a dizzying phenomenon, plundering the 50s and 60s, a costume drama of conflict and division. As always, John reports from the vortex, offering both frontline reportage and scholarly insights. I hope you enjoy this journey through the 80's at loud volume.
