Bruno Major, a popular singer/songwriter who has been praised by the likes of Billy Irish and BTS, has released his latest album "Columbo", his first album in three years since his last album "To Let A Good Thing Die". Comprised of 12 songs (two additional bonus tracks are included on the domestic CD), the album weaves together autobiographical songs written from a subjective point of view with songs written from an objective point of view, further expanding Bruno's range of expression and making it his most complete and "honest" work to date. The soulful, romantic pop sound of the previous album has been given an added sparkle, and the album's title track "Columbo," which is also a preceding single, combines a sad, melancholic melody with Bruno's graceful voice and simple guitar melody to create an American songbook atmosphere. The title track, "Columbo," is a wistful, melancholy melody.The Paul Simon influence can be felt in this song, which features intricate guitar phrases and wistful vocals, which are layered with harmonies and climax in the song. Despite its springtime sound, the lyrics are about love, loss, and freedom. Other songs on the album include "The Show Must Go On," with its gorgeous piano intro, clean snare-free drum pattern, and crystal-clear guitar tone reminiscent of Neil Young's "Out on the Weekend. The melting R&B of "Tell Her" and the album's second half, "Tears in Rain," are dedicated to his late grandmother. The album closes with "The End," a guitar solo that reminds me of Brian May and his influences from Queen, whom he adores. The album "Columbo" is Bruno Major's most complete expression of his artistry to date. The CD will be released in Japan with a bilingual lyrics and commentary, and will be preceded by an additional bonus track.
