Description:
The only opera by Beethoven, "Fidelio", in its original form, "Leonore" (1st draft), recorded by Jacobs! The dialogue is also thoroughly verified in this tense and full performance! The true form of "Fidelio" will be presented to the world! This is a remarkable release in the Beethoven year! Jacobs recorded "Leonore" (1st draft)! Beethoven's only opera, "Fidelio" (1814), exists in three different drafts, but today, "Fidelio", the final form of 1814, is the repertoire. In defiance of this, Jacobs recorded the first draft of "Leonore," the prototype of "Fidelio"! The first draft, completed in 1805, was a failure, partly due to various unfortunate circumstances at the time of its first performance. The major difference between the 1805 first draft and the second and later drafts is that the first draft was in three acts, while the second and later drafts are in two acts. In addition, the dialogue, which was an important part of the first draft, has been considerably reduced in the second and later drafts.Jacobs also paid attention to the dialogue, which is the main attraction of this first draft, and while respecting Zonleitner's script, he also consulted the original French novel and made some edits to bring the language up to date. For example, the opening overture is followed by a serif play in this first draft (in the current "Fidelio" it is a duet). This first draft of "Leonore" is of unparalleled quality, both musically and narratively, and demands a high level of skill from both the orchestra and the singers. This is a wonderful recording, made possible only by Jacobs and his chosen members! =About the titles "Fidelio" and "Leonore" = Beethoven wanted to perform the work under the title "Leonore" from the first performance of the first draft in 1805, but the promoters demanded that it be performed under the title "Fidelio" to distinguish it from the previous works by other composers. Beethoven's 1806 self-published libretto and the vocal score published in 1810 have the title "Leonore," and today we generally refer to the first two drafts as "Leonore" and the third, the current draft, as "Fidelio.
