The "Shostakovich Under the Shadow of Stalin" series - DG and the Boston Symphony Orchestra announced a five-album contract for Shostakovich's Symphonies Nos. 5-10 plus orchestral works, but changed their plans to record the complete symphonies after the acclaim of the first series. The prestigious Boston Symphony Orchestra, one of the Big 5 in the U.S., is a popular orchestra nurtured by Koussevitzky and Munsch, and Seiji Ozawa established its golden era from 1973 to 2002. The Boston Symphony Orchestra is now building a new era with a young and talented music director.Andris Nelsons, born in 1978 in Riga, Latvia, which was still a Soviet territory at the time, has a unique perspective on the performance of Shostakovich's music. Andris Nelsons has a unique perspective on the performance of Shostakovich's music. He was one of the last conductors educated in the Soviet musical tradition. Andris Nelsons, who studied in St. Petersburg for many years, is one of the few conductors today who has inherited the tradition of the great Russian masters, while at the same time, in the German works that form the core of his repertoire, he has also inherited the tradition of the Western masters. He is also the 21st Kapellmeister (Chief Conductor) of the prestigious Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and a series of recordings of Bruckner's complete symphonies with the Gewandhaus Orchestra and Beethoven's Beethoven Symphonies with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is in progress for Beethoven's anniversary year in 2020.
