Following GROUPE RTD, the current band from Djibouti that surprised many music fans, the second volume is the world's first anthology of the 40-member Somali supergroup 4 MARS. 4 MARS is the first anthology of the 40-piece Somali supergroup 4 MARS, which was included in the Grammy Award-winning historical compilation "Sweet As Broken Dates" and is known as one of the most popular bands on the label. The band's musical signature is an unparalleled blend of African, Asian, and Mediterranean cultures, born out of its location in a corner of East Africa that for centuries served as one of the world's leading hubs for the region.Anadolu rock with vibrant synths, Jamaican reggae, a brass section reminiscent of New Orleans, Bollywood vocals, Egyptian and Yemeni rhythms, flutes used in China and Mongolia.... The extremely soulful, yet all-encompassing music, born of a certain boldness, has unfathomable potential to transcend the barriers of genre and language, and will inevitably surprise many people. The CD is bound in a hardcover book with a 12-page booklet, and the vinyl is a double LP in a luxurious matte-finished gatefold sleeve, carefully restored and remastered from digitized master reels and cassettes, with a poster inspired by a political banner used in Djibouti in the 1980s.
