Description:

Mike Viola, a POP genius, panics! Rock Of Boston" (analog), the latest work by POP genius Mike Viola, featuring Brendon from At The Disco, is his latest work "Rock Of Boston". With a husky voice reminiscent of Elvis Costello, Mike Viola is a "pop genius" singer/songwriter/producer who writes catchy songs with great melodies and harmonies in the vein of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. This album is a rock and pop, pop and rock album, with Mike's guitar playing. The majority of the songs are written by Panic! At The Disco's "Viva Las Venjanes" (#2 Alternative Album/ #3 Rock Album in the U.S.), and co-wrote and co-produced all of the songs on the album. He wrote the songs while holed up in a moving bus between soundchecks and showtimes while on tour with the band as guitarist. The album was recorded as a power trio with Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco on drums and Jake Sinclair (bass), who has also worked with Weezer and Beck. Panic! It is unusual for the frontman of a group as popular as Panic at the Disco to accompany another artist, but Brendon was inspired by Mike's "American Egypt" and contacted him when he was feeling very tired and burned out from being in a band. Brendon says that he truly enjoys his role as Mike's drummer. The album features Mike's love for his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, on "Rock of Boston," reminiscent of Paul Simon and Elton John in the 1970s; "Welcome to the Thunderdome," an intense rock number inspired by the hemispherical steel deathmatch cage in the "Mad Max" series of movies; and several beautiful acoustic numbers. The album includes "Welcome to the Thunderdome," an intense rock number inspired by the "Thunderdome," the hemispherical deathmatch cage from the Mad Max series, and several beautiful acoustic numbers, offering a wide range of musical styles filtered through a pop sensibility.
