Performed in the first draft of the first Novak revision of the original 1873 edition! This SACD hybrid recording of Bruckner's Symphony No. 3 features the exciting and subtle slow and fast movements that are typical of Dausgaard's work. Thomas Dausgaard is well known for his numerous recordings of Bruckner's Symphonies No. 3. The recording of Symphony No. 6 (KKC-6150 / BIS SA-2404) with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra was selected as one of the best discs in the special issue of Record-Geijutsu magazine (May 2020) entitled "500 Masterpieces of the New Era". The Dausgaard disc is the first among the many masterpieces of the symphony. The new recording of the Symphony No. 3 is highly anticipated! The recording uses the first draft of the Norwach edition of the original version from 1873. I first became acquainted with the symphony in the third (1889) draft, but when I went back to the original 1873 score, it was in perfect harmony with itself, and its unique, experimental style shone through from beginning to end. I feel despair and ecstasy, which is the most sublime part of Bruckner and what naturally leads me to which edition I should choose," says Dausgaard.This Symphony No. 3, dedicated to Wagner, is played with the exciting and subtle slow and fast pace that is typical of Dausgaard's style!
