BCJ's eighth collection of Bach's secular cantatas is a SACD hybrid of two pieces written for Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony. BWV 215 and BWV 206. The cast includes Hana Vlasikova, who has a beautiful, clear voice, and Roderick Williams, a talented bass singer. Blessed Saxony" was written at the request of a local student on the occasion of a visit to Leipzig by Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony. The text reflects the political situation of the time.On the other hand, "Silent Stream, Lulling Waves" was written for the Marquis's birthday in 1734, but was postponed to 1736 because of his early visit to Leipzig.
