Description:
Litton's brilliant orchestral sound Prokofiev's Symphonies Nos. 4 and 7! The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrzej Litton, presents a collection of Prokofiev's works, including Romeo and Juliet (BISSA 1301) and Romeo and Juliet (BISSA 1301). Following Romeo and Juliet (BISSA 1301), Piano Concerto Collection with Freddy Kemp (BIS SA 1820), Symphony No. 6 (BIS SA 1994), and Symphony No. 5 (BIS SA 2124), this fifth release includes Symphony No. 4 in C major, Op. 112 and Symphony No. 7 in C sharp minor, Op. 131, and Symphony No. 7 in C sharp minor, Op. 131, "Youth. Symphony No.4 in C major, Op.112 and Symphony No.7 in C-sharp minor, Op.131. Symphony No. 4 was composed in 1930 as a commission for the 50th anniversary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, based on the inspiration of the ballet "The Prodigal Son," Op. 47. The first performance was not well received, and the premiere in the Soviet Union in 1937 was not well received either. Many parts were newly written, and the work was about twice as large as the original. It is now considered one of Prokofiev's finest symphonies.Symphony No. 7 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131, which Prokofiev himself called a "youth symphony," is a work with a sweet melody and a simple style and writing style. This recording also includes a version in which the closing section of the last movement ends with a weak pizzicato, and a different version in which about 20 bars were added to the original closing section at the request of Samuil Sammourd. Once again, Litton's Prokofiev is gorgeous, and the orchestral sound is rich in color. King International
