Formed in 2016 by five veteran musicians—including early ABELGANZ members such as Gordon Mackie (b) and Ken Weir (drums/perc)—who have been active in the music scene since the ’70s and ’80s, the band now consists of original members Mike Baxter (key) and Renaldo McKim (g). Now, this Scottish pump rock–neo-prog band is set to release its fourth album in ’26! Following the departure of Martin Haggarty (vocals)—who was also an original member of ABELGANZ—Dutch female vocalist Maaike Siegerist, who has released albums both as a solo artist and as a member of the prog-metal band ALERION, has joined the band for this album. The lineup change has brought about a slight shift in the band’s musical style. While still grounded in the melancholic and weighty melodic rock sound of their previous albums, the album features tracks like the opening number “Seahorses,” with its pleasantly bouncy rhythm, and “Wanderlust”—a pop-folk/symphonic rock-style track featuring memorable acoustic guitar strumming and a rich analog synth solo—demonstrate a lighthearted and catchy melodic rock sound that makes full use of her beautiful vocal tone. With a level of sophistication and evocative power that has brought them rapidly closer to the style of bands like MAGENTA, MOSTLYAUTUMN, and KARNATAKA, this is a masterpiece that can be considered the band’s most polished work to date!
