Light Shall Shine" is the result of more than a decade of collaboration between Norwegian composers Hermann Vogt and Anders Eisten Dahl. The five-movement work takes its name from the fourth chapter of 2 Corinthians, and is named after the New Testament and related literature. Each movement is entitled "The Kingdom is within you and without you," "I am the light of the world," "Behold the outstretched hands of the Savior; and He lifted up His children and laid His hands on them and blessed them," "You are the light of the world," "Our constant peace; may you rest in Me. Composed in 2016, "Re-sur-Re...exit" is the French name of the piece, which breaks down the Latin "resurrexit" (he was resurrected) to include "re," a prefix that means "in D" and "in Re" as well as "again.Inspired by the Christian relic of the Sacred Casket of Turin, "The Marvels of Turin" is a work that takes Christianity and faith as its theme and uses a broad palette of musical language, ranging from simple, plain music to complex polyphony. Hermann Vogt (b.1976) is a composer born in Drammen, Norway. He studied at the Norwegian National College of Music with Björn Kruse, Lasse Thoresen, Olav Anton Thommesen, and Henrik Herstenius, and received a master's degree in composition under Asbjörn Skortun. He also studied with Martijn Pading and Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Organist Anders Eisten Dahl (b.1976) was also born in Drammen, like Vogt. He holds a bachelor's degree in church music and a master's degree in organ solo performance from the Norwegian National Academy of Music, and studied organ solo performance at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
