Benjamin Whitcomb's second collection of 20th century unaccompanied cello works! This is the second collection of Benjamin Whitcomb's 20th century unaccompanied cello works (the first collection included Reger's Suite No. 2, Bloch's Suite No. 2, and Muczynski's "Gallery"; item number: MS1587). Bloch's suite is a sturdy and powerful work reminiscent of his masterpiece "Scheromo. Casado, one of the leading cellists of the first half of the 20th century, composed the music himself, and this suite is his masterpiece. This is a lively and excellent work that is strongly influenced by the folk music of his hometown, Barcelona. Hindemith, himself an excellent viola player, also composed excellent cello works, including concertos, and the Sonata for Unaccompanied Cello is one of them. Britten's Cello Suite is a masterpiece written for the virtuoso Rostropovich. Whitcomb is an American cellist active in chamber music, including membership in the Ancora String Quartet.
